Objectives
All people interested in spatial data are invited to get an insight into the business potential of geospatial data and value-added service presented by IBM. The IBM research team will show, how data driven technologies can help to understand risks related to climate induced extreme weather-events, like floodings, wildfires, droughts, or heatwaves and how businesses are challenged in many ways through short-term events and possible long-term consequences. Such extreme events but also gradual changes will affect supply chains, resource management and other operational processes that need to be revisited and optimized. Furthermore, legal requirements on ESG (environmental, social, and corporate governance) reporting and risk assessments of large investments, creates incentives towards improving efficiency in general, but e.g., also for data-processing infrastructure. This creates challenges but also opportunities, completely new business perspectives and new business models that can be exploited.
In addition, success stories of exciting project ideas based on geodata are presented by the Swiss Territorial Data Lab and the general importance of the possibilities provided by new data science approaches are discussed. The open and interactive discussion rounds allow participants to bring their specific questions and case studies to the table for constructive feedback – and to push ideas further with new approaches, new motivation and new contacts.
Afterwards, an open discussion will take place on the opportunities of data-driven methods like machine learning (ML) and will address schemes that facilitate efficient sharing of information (not data) through model and data-federation, and how cross-border collaborations are required, but can also benefit from such schemes in many ways. In the form of an Ideathon, short interactive sequences will venture to look beyond one’s own professional horizons and search for new applications and solutions in the geospatial sector. The best ideas can then be submitted directly to the NTN Innovation Booster – Databooster, with the prospect of further funding.
